The Family History Library

You will spend a week at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, the largest library of its kind in the world, offering a staggering collection of genealogical records from all over the world on five floors.

Beginning 6 November 2021 the Library's opening hours are changing to 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Mondays to Saturdays.

Get Help

In addition to help available from Library volunteers and staff, you will have exclusive access to Ancestor Seekers Research Consultants at regular intervals. They will help you find the records you need to do your research and provide their expertise in interpreting and analyzing the information you have found.

Our consultants will be available every day to offer specialized help as you search records from the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Germany.

There is a large collection of records available from many other parts of the world which the friendly and helpful library staff will be pleased to help you with.

The Hotel

Located next door to the Library, the Salt Lake City Plaza Hotel at Temple Square is the ideal location for those coming to Salt Lake City to do genealogy.

Six nights at the hotel (Sunday night through Friday night, checking out on Saturday morning) is included in the price and is arranged by Ancestor Seekers. Details of how to stay additional nights at our special group rate will be provided after you have registered.

Each room includes free wireless hi-speed Internet.

Although there is currently no restaurant at the Plaza:

Our September 2021 guests felt that these three options compensated well for the lack of a restaurant

Note: The Plaza hotel does not currently run an airport shuttle

HEALTH and SAFETY

What We Learned from our September 2021 Event

Whilst we hope that the COVID-19 situation will be looking better by February, we have planned this event based on current conditions.

Our September 2021 event was our first for a year and a half due to the previous closure of the Family History Library. We learned from this trip that we can successfully hold these events even when faced with the challenges posed by COVID-19. With this knowledge we are confident that we can provide another successful and safe event in February 2022.

The overwhelming majority of our September 2021 guests stated that they felt safe at the event and were happy with the health and safety protocols existing at the Family History Library and the Plaza Hotel.

Most of our September 2021 guests, and some of our Ancestor Seekers Research Consultants, chose not to wear face masks in the Library, in our short morning meetings or at the Opening Dinner, and we expect that such will be the case this time. We understand if you are not comfortable with this and invite you to join us at a future date.

Vaccination Status and Current CDC Guidelines

Proof of vaccination is not required but we note that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently advise that those who are not fully vaccinated should delay travelling

CDC guidelines also state: "Do NOT travel if you were exposed to COVID-19, you are sick, you test positive for COVID-19, or you are waiting for results of a COVID-19 test. Don't travel with someone who is sick"

We recommend that you review the latest domestic travel guidelines issued by the CDC at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html

Other Health Considerations

We want you to be well during your visit. If you have recently had surgery or are under a doctor's care, please seek approval from your doctor before making this trip
